She slams into the door Slides down to the floor She pleads her case As tears stream down her face Only nineteen years old But her life has been so cold Lost within the chase As tears stream down her face
She always thought that he was angry But it was a drunken rage She couldn't seem to calm him down No matter what she did Now she only cries for help As tears stream down her face
She hides under the bed As he steps in the house Slams his bottle on the table And softly calls to her So sweet were his words She crawls out from the bed But she sees that he's been drinking And she whispers "Help me Lord" She always thought that he was angry But it was a drunken rage She couldn't seem to calm him down No matter what she did Now she only cries for help As tears stream down her face
When her friends asked what happened She said she fell down the stairs They never understood the truth Even as the tears stream down her face How could the Lord have let this happen How could he be so cruel She was in the fight For her life The Lord never seemed to care But in her prayers He was always there
She always thought that he was angry But it was a drunken rage She couldn't seem to calm him down No matter what she did Now to God she cries for help As tears stream down her face
